Forever Knight was a series I discovered on nighttime tv that always gave the impression as if it had an unlimited number of episodes. I watched what I could and it wasn't until years later that I discovered there had been some major changes in its last season in regard to Nick Knight's partner Schanke, his relationship with Natalie, and that Jeanette had been more or less replaced by Vachon. I hadn't wanted to believe what I'd heard about the last handful of episodes until mabiana and I saw for ourselves - and were quite broken up about it. Slash entered the picture almost against my will; what the series showed us about Lacroix's character made the presumption more than likely that he and his Childe had shared sexual relations sometime in their mutual past, but not anymore palpatable. I don't like Lacroix; I accept him as a necessary evil. Reading about the two of them together doesn't give me that certain little thrill. For the sake of a good characterization of Nick, I can accept it though.

The main pairing on this page is
Nick Knight / Lucien Lacroix.

Summary: Nick finds out that payback can be bitch. And that old habits from centuries ago are never really dead and forgotten. Oh, and Natalie gets a surprise...
Review: Like most of us, Fenris prefers to ignore the last events in the show's finale and instead shows us a Nick who has had to acknowledge that his attempt at regaining his humanity with Natalie's help has failed, and now decides to redefine his relationship with his sire. Fenris shows us the deep affection underlying their bond that has survived all their fights and differences of opinion, and is the reason that they are the only ones who are able to hurt the other where it really counts. Light and wickedly funny, those two stories are a balm to the soul for anyone who's still traumatized from "Last Knight". So, no matter what Lacroix has done on the show, don't stake him - leave him to Nick.
