jeeves and wooster fan fiction

Jeeves and Wooster is a fandom that is also one of my regrets. Over the years, I've heard so much about Bertie Wooster, wealthy, idle, and scatterbrained English gentleman in an inter-war London, and his indispensable "gentleman's personal gentleman" (aka valet), Jeeves, whose genius manages to extricate Bertie or one of his friends from "the soup", that is, numerous awkward situations. While I like to read in this fandom, I haven't made it through but part of one of Wodehouse's books, and similarly I've only managed to watch less than half of the episodes of the show with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry - and this fandom deserves so much better! The characters, the banter, Bertie's way with words (and his adorable cluelessness), Jeeves' skill at saving the young master (and determinedly running his life) are all so very entertaining and enjoyable. If I had more time... Anyway, this fandom has some very outstanding stories that are a joy to read. Have fun.

The main pairing on this page is
Bertram "Bertie" Wilberforce Wooster / Reginald Jeeves.

Title: Green Ice [1], [2], [3], [4] (story index) offsite Story Length: ~ 87 KB
Series: none Rating: PG
Category: gen Warnings: none
Pairing: none Time Frame: Post-"My Man Jeeves" (Wodehouse) & Post-"Unnatural Death" (Sayers)
Genres: Action/Adventure, Drama, X-over with "Lord Peter Wimsey" Recommended: 22 Feb 2007
Summary: Bertie Wooster has an unfortunate reputation for pinching things - necklaces, amber statuettes, umbrellas - a reputation that becomes dashedly awkward when Lord Attenbury's emeralds go missing. Fortunately his old friend Flim is on hand to straighten things out.
Review: Adina has melded Wodehouse's and Sayers' worlds so seamlessly that one is surprised that nobody came up with the selfsame idea much earlier. Told from Bertie Wooster's POV, the author has his voice down perfectly, but doesn't lose sight of Wimsey, Bunter et al either. In addition to a dashed intriguing mystery, her narration increasingly hints at a past of Wooster's that he has suppressed entirely in order to continue functioning, shedding a darker light onto what we know of his personality. In comparison to him, Wimsey - as damaged as he is by his war experiences - seems to be coping admirably. Awesome.

Title: The Psychology of Mr. Wooster offsite Story Length: ~ 35 KB
Series: none Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: graphic m/m sex
Pairing: Bertie Wooster / Reginald Jeeves Time Frame: not specified
Genres: First Time Recommended: 02 Oct 2010
Summary: Jeeves missed one very important bit of Bertie's psychology.
Review: I simply adore stories written vom Jeeves' POV, and this fic hits another one of my kinks dead-on: It features a Bertie who is the confident, experienced one in regard to m/m sex, whereas Jeeves is the novice. While canon!Jeeves might run Bertie's life, here it is Bertie who takes charge, bowls Jeeves over, emotionally speaking, and turns his world upside down. Jeeves, caught flatfooted for once, is a joy to behold, and both characters' voices are spot-on despite Jeeves being the narrator.

Title: Jeeves and the Blessed Indiscretion (podfic by fayjay) offsite Story Length: ~ 25 KB
Series: none Rating: PG-13
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Bertie Wooster / Reginald Jeeves Time Frame: not specified
Genres: Action/Adventure, Drama, Humor Recommended: 02 Oct 2010
Summary: Jeeves isn't his usual self, so it's up to Bertie to help him out.
Review: shalott's seemingly effortless mastery of whatever fandom she touches would be annoying if the resulting stories weren't so entertaining. Once again, she has a perfect grasp of the characters, their interactions, and of course of the narrative Wooster voice. Contrary to what's usual in this fandom, Bertie here is not only the prime mover, but also plays the part of Jeeves' knight in shining armor. The humor of the piece lies in the juxtaposition of Bertie's resolute and heroic actions, and his lack of realization of the reason Jeeves was being blackmailed. The evolving plot and the inevitable denouement at the end are both equally enjoyable.

Title: My Man Jeeves offsite Story Length: ~ 35 KB
Series: none Rating: R
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Bertie Wooster / Reginald Jeeves Time Frame: Post-"My Man Jeeves"
Genres: Established Relationship, Romance Recommended: 22 Feb 2007
Summary: The bunglings of an agency valet drive Bertie to flee to Jeeves' side - to continue a love affair that began over a typical domestic disaster...
Review: Sue's Wooster voice is also fabulous, and she applies it skillfully in describing not only Wooster and Jeeves' reunion after a short separation early in their intimate relationship, but also in describing in form of a flashback how that "additional eccentricity in the Wooster menage" came about. The author paints their abode as a haven from the usual rules of society, and brings them together without much drama, not letting their different social standing get in the way, but not ignoring it either. A charming little gem of a story with the single failing of not being longer.

Title: Jeeves and the Lessons on Love [1], [2], [3] offsite Story Length: ~ 151 KB
Series: none Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: graphic m/m sex
Pairing: Bertie Wooster / Reginald Jeeves Time Frame: not specified
Genres: Angst, First Time Recommended: 02 Oct 2010
Summary: Jeeves takes Bertie under his wing to teach him the secrets of love-making, but then things quickly go from "Oh my" to "I say!"
Review: What I adore about this story the most is how well it conveys the depth of emotion Bertie experiences once he realizes his feelings for Jeeves and is soon crushed by Jeeves' first rejection. No matter how painful, he draws the necessary consequences to protect what remains of his heart, and in this he exhibits a dignified maturity that seems foreign to his nature and yet fits him so well. The Jeeves in this story also surmounts his canonical limitations and proves he has his own flaws and blind spots. All in all, the author uses the somewhat clichéd setting to develop a story that transcends all known clichés in the fandom. Extraordinary.
