J.A.G. has never been a series I felt very strongly about; I've watched a few episodes, mainly those starring Clayton Webb, and pretty much ignored the fact that it dominated the afternoon tv schedule. The sheer number of episodes is daunting. I cannot even remember how I came across mareen's stories in this fandom, especially since we didn't become friends in real life until some time later. Something about her and Gail's stories appealed to me, and I sure hope it was more than a weakness for secretly gay men in uniform. Perhaps it was the mystery of Webb's true intentions and involvement in CIA affairs, and the subsequent insecurity and mistrust on Harmon Rabb's part. I know I'll never become a true fan of the show, although I now have learnt what happened in its later seasons. Nonetheless, I like the pairing Rabb/Webb and will keep on hoping that one day I'll stumble across a novel-length story that doesn't build up Webb as the misunderstood hero to the detriment of oblivious Rabb, and that deals believably with the issue of DADT.

The main pairing on this page is
Harmon Rabb / Clayton Webb.

The Tequila Series
Title: A Tequila Sort of Day offsite Story Length: ~ 45 KB
Series: Part 1 of The Tequila Series Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Harmon Rabb / Clayton Webb Time Frame: Season 6/Season 7
Genres: AU, BDSM/Kink, Episode Related Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: In this version of the universe, there was nothing wrong with Harm's tomcat as he flew back to DC, so he didn't go splash and the wedding happened ("Adrift"). Harm goes off to sulk afterwards.
Title: The Next Morning offsite Story Length: ~ 46 KB
Series: Part 2 of The Tequila Series Rating: R
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Harmon Rabb / Clayton Webb Time Frame: Season 6/Season 7
Genres: Angst, AU, Humor Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: Harm wakes up with a sore backside, a hazy memory and wants to know just who is that guy hiding under the blanket?
Review: Anne Higgins' style in her "Tequila Series" is a bit lighter than I usually like and her Harmon Rabb a little too dependent on someone else solving his personal problems for him, but Anne's metaphors of "bourbon drinkers" and "tequila drinkers" are too hilarious to resist. Furthermore, the backstory she invented for Rabb (the one linked to two tequila binges) is a stroke of genius for establishing a potential secret penchant for seeking m/m sex. I'd like to see more of the happily-ever-after, but still - enjoy.

Title: The Solstice Series [1], [2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7] Story Length: ~ 264 KB
Series: The Solstice Series Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Harmon Rabb / Clayton Webb Time Frame: Season 5
Genres: Action/Adventure, Angst, AU, Drama Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: One year after his "relationship" with Harmon Rabb went to hell, Clark Palmer offers Clayton Webb a deal: Webb gets Harmon Rabb back into his bed, Palmer gets Rabb breaking the rules captured on videotape.
Review: Gail is a friend of mareen's (see below), got inspired by her "Equinox" series - and decided to write a series of her own that's kind of an alternate reality to Mareen's parts 4 and 5. Once again mostly told in Webb's POV, she spins a totally different tale involving Clark Palmer, Rabb's nemesis. Her Webb is less vulnerable emotionally, but still attracted to Rabb and caught in the middle between Palmer's scheme and his feelings for Rabb, while her Rabb - although outclassed in the spooks department - manages to hold his own. Gail lets them work it out and even end up together, despite the fact that she usually prefers the pairing Webb/Palmer.

Title: The Equinox Series [1], [2], [3], [4], [5] Story Length: ~ 100 KB
Series: The Equinox Series Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Harmon Rabb / Clayton Webb Time Frame: Season 2
Genres: Angst, Character Study, First Time Recommended: 17 Aug 2000
Summary: Love can be a bitch. Especially for Clayton Webb.
Review: What I like about mareen's "Equinox" series is her portrayal of Webb's vulnerabilty and his inability to say "no" to any requests from Rabb. Her interpretation (and logical conclusion) is that Webb has feelings for Rabb. In mareen's series, he hides them behind bluster, behind being a bastard, and he refuses to even entertain the thought that perhaps his view of the world is not necessarily the only truth. The reader can only guess what Rabb might feel, but the two men in "Equinox" are well-matched - they both don't know what they want and don't dare talk about their feelings for fear of showing the other a weakness. I would have liked to see a resolution - especially in regard to Rabb being in the US military -, but even without, "Equinox" and Gail's "Solstice" series (see above) made me a Clayton Webb fan.
