house, m.d. fan fiction

House, M.D.'s pilot was enough to make me a fan (well, that and Hugh Laurie) although I have to admit that my interest since then has waned a bit as not all developments since the show's early second season can be considered good ones. Still, the unlikely friendship between House - the cutting, egoistical misantrophe -, and Wilson - the nice, well-liked team player - and the way they just seem to click whenever they hang out together, be it during clinic hours or after work, begs to be explored. Add to that the fact that House has canonically availed himself to the service of prostitutes whereas Wilson has a history of divorces and remarriages, and slash fans are immediately intrigued. The show's formula might get repetitive. The small glimpses into what keeps Wilson and House in each other's orbit never will.

The main pairing on this page is
Gregory House / James Wilson.

Title: Foolish Hearts [1], [2] offsite Story Length: ~ 110 KB
Series: Sequel to "Reverse Psychology" Rating: PG-13
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Gregory House / James Wilson Time Frame: Season 2
Genres: Character Study, Established Relationship, Humor Recommended: 10 Jun 2007
Summary: House is thinking about pain management and discovers he's not immune to jealousy - after all, Wilson has a history of fidelity issues.
Review: Eos has branched off from Stargate: SG-1 to House, M.D. and proves to be at least as skillful in her newest fandom. She has the snark down pat - it's like listening to the show, and imbues her stories with a kind of serenity that coats what would otherwise - in a less capable author's hands - be overly dramatic, plus her characterizations are spot-on. Foreman and Chase breaking into House's apartment, Cuddy, Stacy and even Julie... this is the kind of fan fiction that's easy, comfortable and yet strangely elating to read.

Series: Part 3 of House-opothy Rating: PG-13
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Gregory House / James Wilson Time Frame: Season 1
Genres: Character Study, Friendship, Humor Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: You can't always get what you want, but sometimes, you get what you need.
Review: Since I already liked L.M. Griffin's stories in the Sentinel fandom, I wasn't surprised to discover that she was the author of this trilogy. If the situation ever came to pass on the show (not that it will), there is no doubt that all the characters would act exactly the way she portrays them here. The dialogue is spot-on, the setting perfect, the descriptions sublime. The only complaint left to make is the plea for another sequel.

Milkshake Butterfly
e-mail: m_butterfly@livejournal.com Website: The Butterfly Factory
livejournal: ljm_butterfly
Title: Defensive Strategies offsite Story Length: ~ 81 KB
Series: none Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Gregory House / James Wilson Time Frame: Season 1
Genres: Challenge Response, First Time, Humor, Romance Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: In which Wilson has a problem, House has a cunning plan, girls hunt in packs, chocolate cake has unexpected dangers, furniture is unintentionally ordered, several conversations occur, and dinner is repeatedly served.
Review: This story would not work half as well if either the style or the main plot were just a little bit different. Thankfully, Milkshake Butterfly proves to be an expert on both grounds and transforms what could have been just another take on the same old cliché into something sparkling new: House. Wilson. Pretense and reality. Utterly delightful.

nigeltde

Title: Lies, damn lies and statistics offsite Story Length: ~ 56 KB
Series: none Rating: PG-13
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Gregory House / James Wilson Time Frame: Season 2
Genres: Angst, Character Study, Friendship, Pre-Relationship Recommended: 09 Dec 2006
Summary: Diagnosis: divorce, or complete cessation of all higher brain functions.
Review: Following divorce #3, House entertains the nasty suspicion that Wilson and Cameron might be getting close. nigeltde captures House's inner voice perfectly, and while it is clear that House's relevation in regard to his best friend is extremely painful for him, he stays entirely in character by channeling his anger, jealousy and despondence into sarcasm and verbal attacks on the people around him. House remains House, Wilson is clueless, and the dialogue could be lifted directly from the show. Extraordinary.

Title: Maryland offsite Story Length: ~ 31 KB
Series: none Rating: R
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Gregory House / James Wilson Time Frame: Season 1
Genres: Angst, Pre-Relationship Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: What's so great about Maryland?
Review: shalott has proven in a great number of fandoms that she is an extraordinary author, and the results of her excursion into House, M.D. are no exception. She writes from House's POV and has his sarcasm down pat; his biting comments, his interactions with Cuddy, Wilson, and his team feel real although thankfully we don't see him being cruel in either story. As usual, shalott does not go for the great internal emotional unveiling but prefers to hint at deeper emotions below the surface; it is more important what is understood than what is actually being said. We need more stories like these, please.
