babylon 5 fan fiction

Babylon 5 was, I believe, the third fandom I fell for. I'd just discovered the joys of Star Trek - TOS and Highlander - The Series slash when the friend who'd introduced me to Highlander - The Series made certain I would delve deeply into the con experience. She made sure I went to the next "Nexus" convention in Berlin/Germany (which, incidentially, had Michael O'Hare as a guest), introduced me to the organisers of the event, and joined me during the months before and after in the weekly run for a tv room to watch "Babylon 5" in. Michael O'Hare, the poor guy, was inevitably confronted with the evil slash question at the con... which sowed the slash seed in my fertile little brain. As soon as I had access to a computer, I looked up Sinclair slash, and who else to pair him with than his best friend Garibaldi? I found Emily Brunson's stories. And fell in love with not only this fandom, but also the rest of the fannish world, for Em's fanfic page was my transition point into the world of The Sentinel, and from there, as they say, the rest is history.

The main pairing on this page is
Jeffrey Sinclair / Michael Garibaldi.

Series: Part 5 of the Navigation Series Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: graphic m/m sex

Genres: BDSM/Kink, Established Relationship, PWP, Threesome Recommended: 23 May 2000
Summary: Garibaldi learns to reciprocate, but Sinclair isn't tamed easily. Ivanova proves to be a voyeur and so shares more with her friends than she ever thought she would.
Review: A. Manley Haight writes scorchingly hot sex with a D/s strain like a glittering metallic thread running through the whole series. While I wish she'd concentrate more on the political/military situation on B5 (as well as JMS' story arc waiting in the wings) and the repercussions of such a relationship, her masterful Sinclair and no less strong Garibaldi make up for the lack of a plot. A series I would dearly love to see more of.

Title: Aftermath offsite Story Length: ~ 59 KB
Series: none Rating: PG-13
Category: Gen Warnings: none
Pairing: John Sheridan & Delenn Time Frame: Season 4
Genres: Angst, Drama, Character Study, Episode Related, Friendship, Hurt Comfort Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: Sheridan has been rescued from Mars and comes aboard White Star 3. Meanwhile, Michael Garibaldi wonders what else Bester might have planted in his mind, and makes a difficult decision.
Review: In this story, we finally get that one missing scene from "Between The Darkness And The Light" - Garibaldi has to face Sheridan and his other friends on Babylon 5 after returning from the rescue mission to Mars. Very well-written, very in-character; a consequent follow-through on Garibaldi's fear of loss of self.

Title: The House of Flesh (.zip file @ [EmLand]) offsite Story Length: ~ 77 KB
Series: none Rating: R
Category: Slash Warnings: none
Pairing: Jeffrey Sinclair / Michael Garibaldi Time Frame: Season 3 (Flashbacks to Post-Pilot)
Genres: Character Study, Episode Related, First Time Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: Garibaldi looks back on his relationship with Jeff Sinclair, one dark morning after the return of the White Star in "War Without End".
Title: The Wishing Tree (.zip file @ [EmLand]) offsite Story Length: ~ 198 KB
Series: Part 1 of the Mars Trilogy Rating: NC-17
Category: Slash Warnings: drug abuse, questionable consent, prostitution
Pairing: Jeffrey Sinclair / Michael Garibaldi Time Frame: Post-Comics, Pre-Series
Genres: Angst, Drama, Pre-Series Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: This is the story of the beginning of Jeff Sinclair and Michael Garibaldi's friendship. On Mars, just after the events of the comic series "Shadows Past and Present", Jeff Sinclair helped Michael Garibaldi begin to break the destructive cycle of his alcoholism.
Review: Those two stories as well as the drafts of the next installments in the Mars Trilogy, "The Beggar's Horse" and "The Jubilee Waltz" (no longer available online), are what made me fall madly in love with both the fandom and the Sinclair/Garibaldi pairing. Em is a gifted and imaginative author with plenty of insight into the characters. She brings to life the one character who left far too soon, and sheds light on the backstory of a friendship we've always been curious about. Unequaled.

Title: Requests offsite Story Length: ~ 29 KB
Series: none Rating: PG
Category: Gen Warnings: none
Pairing: none Time Frame: Season 3
Genres: Character Study, Drama, Episode Related, Friendship Recommended: 06 Apr 2006
Summary: Early on in "War Without End," G'Kar is surprised by a visitor.
Review: Not all of Jennifer Lyon's stories are my cup of tea - at least partly because they violate my OTP -, but in this one, I highly admire her skill in offering an intimate glimpse at a man torn between duty and friendship, a man loathe to leave Babylon 5 and yet knowing that he must. "Requests" inspires a sense of wonder as well as a strong taste of the bitter-sweetness of impending loss.

Title: Empty Chairs Story Length: ~ 109 KB
Series: none Rating: R
Category: Slash Warnings: character death
Pairing: Jeffrey Sinclair / Michael Garibaldi Time Frame: Season 1
Genres: Death Story, Drama, Established Relationship Recommended: 19 Jun 2000
Summary: Sometimes a bump in the road leads to the end of the road.
Review: I fear that I'm kind of biased in recommending this story as I beta'd it, but the emotional impact it leaves the reader with is exemplary. I tend to avoid death stories as a rule, and only a few of them have managed to overcome my aversion. "Empty Chairs" is one of them. It hurts, but oh, how beautiful it is to look at! Have some tissues at the ready - and enjoy.
